August Gale should come on plenty for his belated racecourse debut and can come good this time at the main expense of Royalist and perhaps Ninefineirishman. The selection finished runner-up to Commander Cave on debut at Lingfield, when only just reeled in by the winner. He was uneasy in the market that day but put up the sort of performance that, with improvement anticipated, will make him tough to beat this time. Royalist was put away after a 6f Goodwood debut last July, when he put in a pleasing run. The step up in trip should be a plus and with the yard going very well it is likely that he won't be found wanting for fitness. Ninefineirishmen has the benefit of a couple of runs last autumn and improved in bottomless conditions second time. He'd have to improve to trouble the selection here but that is not out of the question. Alwaabel should benefit from a furlong further than his previous four runs and has some solid form that gives him place claims again, but he may not have the improvement in him of our selection, August Gale.
