Verdict

Singleton could be the one to be on here in a competitive renewal of the Park Hill. Henry Cecil's filly is only lightly raced and was returning from a very good second in the Queen's Vase when third in the Galtres Stakes at York. The step up in trip from that contest will serve her well and she looks the one to beat. The connections of Thingmebob will, of course, have something to say about that as their filly finished a length-and-three-quarters ahead of the selection at York and she too will very much appreciate the longer trip today. The Irish Oaks runner-up, L'Ancresse, is clearly another big danger, as is the staying on Irish Oaks fifth, Juliette, and she has subsequently landed a valuable Cork Listed race. The pair form a strong Irish challenge. Haydock maiden winner Heavenly Bay has more on her hands here and Floreeda looks to be the Henry Cecil second-string. Discreet Brief finished second to St Leger hope Moments Of Joy in a Goodwood Listed race last time and she is certainly entitled to keep on improving at this type of trip. The older generation are represented by the Newmarket Listed winner, Treble Heights, who will also be at home over this longer trip. based on that Newmarket win, where Thingmebob was third, The Michael Owen-owned filly comes out best in today's race over Thingmebob and Singleton. However, the margins for error are small. Overall, then, in a smashing race, Singleton might just be the one.
