In depth

Verdict

Although there is a big field, this does not look the best of races, and if Pershaan stays this trip she should be too good for her exposed rivals; Bold Ewar and Jamaican Flight may prove to be best of the rest, and have sound each-way claims. John Dunlop's filly is one of only three three-year-olds in this race, and although she is running over two miles for the first time, both on breeding and on what she has done so far, there is every reason to believe that it will bring out the best in her. Although Pershaan achieved little in winning a maiden at Catterick last time, that will have given her confidence a boost and she may just prove to be far too good for this moderate looking bunch. Bold Ewar had both Toni Alcala and Jamaican Flight behind him when fourth at Pontefract last time, and Clive Brittain's six-year-old should again be thereabouts. Jamaican Flight is having a good season and this old boy is sure to make a bold bid in front, with a decent draw in stall six, so it would be no surprise to see him reach the frame at least. But Pershaan looks a very promising stayer and is strongly fancied to score here.
