Verdict

Gandor stepped up on juvenile form when making a winning reappearance in an Epsom maiden last month and has to be respected with the likelihood of more improvement to come but John Gosden's colt would probably need to if he is to get the better of Ivy Creek, who is preferred to City of Troy of the remainder. The selection has done everything asked of him so far, having won his maiden as a two-year-old in good style before making a winning return at Sandown last month. Being a half-brother to the stayer Distinction, there should be plenty more to come over this longer trip and he is taken to make it three out of three. Art Deco looked useful as a juvenile and is closely matched with City Of Troy on two-year-old form. It will be interesting to see how the pair perform today, especially as Sir Michael Stoute's colt was very disappointing in the Craven on his reappearance. Alhaajes was well held behind Wednesday's handicap winner Galient on his return and is hard to back in this grade on that evidence so a safer bet looks to be Ivy Creek, who is taken to continue his progression.
