Verdict

Only one winning favourite in the last 10 years but subsequent Ascot Gold Cup hero Trip To Paris won last year’s renewal. Course winner Steve Rogers is the ante-post jolly and wasn’t beaten far in last year’s Cesarewitch over a similar trip to this. The progressive Gang Warfare has won his last four on the all-weather but has a further 9lb hike to contend with, while a high draw shouldn’t make much difference to hold-up horse Moonrise Landing, though she will still need luck in-running picking her way through this field. The same comment applies to Irish raider and last year’s runner-up Quick Jack, ahead of Steve Rogers and Le Maitre Chat when third in the Cesarewitch under Ryan Moore in October. He’s preferred to stablemate Heartbreak City but compatriot SILVER CONCORDE (NAP) makes more appeal. Dermot Weld’s charge won the Champion bumper at Cheltenham in 2014 and though well beaten at this year’s Festival, he remains unexposed on the Flat having won three of his four starts to date including the November Handicap at Leopardstown in October. Richard Fahey is mob handed with five runners and Paul Hanagan partnering Gabrial The Hero while William Of Orange and No Heretic represent leading NH yards with the former preferred.
