In depth

Verdict

Hernandita, Tango Royal and Old Feathers are three to consider in a very open handicap and we will side with the first named. Emma Lavelle's six-year-old is improving with every outing and landed a hat-trick when accounting for Kim Fontenail at Worcester last time. This does represent a step up in class but the selection may still be one step ahead of the handicapper. Jonjo O'Neill trains Old Feathers, a gelding that doesn't take too much racing, but he has put in two decent efforts this season. He was most impressive when beating Araglin at Market Rasen in August and wasn't disgraced behind Champagne Lil next time, he looks certain to be involved off this low weight. Tango Royal was clear second best behind the impressive Bow Strada in a valuable handicap chase at Market Rasen last time, he is reverting to the smaller obstacles today, but will be difficult to keep out of the money. The Phillip Hobbs pair Numitas and Xellance are two others worthy of a mention, but Hernandita is progressing at a rate of knots and can make it four in a row.
