It’s a while since SPOOKYDOOKY got his head in front but he’s been running well enough in staying races this season to suggest he can play a major part in this. Doing Fine is another thorough stayer but his losing run stretches back to 2014 and he’s still 3lb higher than for his last win. Millicent Silver finished just ahead of the selection in the Devon National in February and is only a pound worse off so also goes on the short-list, though has not encountered ground this quick before. Port Melon hasn’t had much racing but needs some help from the handicapper and Zerachiel looks to have a lot more to do than when winning narrowly at Exeter.
