Verdict

Softsong, three times a winner on the Flat, gained his maiden victory over timber in impressive fashion at Doncaster in January and had a run on Polytrack a month later so should be sharp enough to get into the frame. BROTHER BRIAN has been a beaten favourite in his last two starts but there was nothing much wrong with his defeat in a Grade 3 at Sandown last month and he looks the one to be on. Boondooma was just behind in that latter event and has won twice subsequently so the form should hold up. Wintered Well has won three of his last four and though 1lb out of the handicap Conor Ring's claim is a massive bonus and another big effort is anticipated. Thomas Crapper has to be a big threat as he's already won twice here this season and his second to Don Poli in the Martin Pipe at the Festival was another outstanding run. David Pipe has two entered here with the progressive Newton Abbot winner Volt Face looking the best of the pair.
