Verdict

Rahaf is becoming expensive to follow and, having again found one too good last time, is taken on with Statement, who can continue Sir Michael Stoute's winning run. The selection raced twice as a juvenile showing decent form on each occasion, latterly when three length third behind Cat Ona High at Sandown over a mile. Being by Singspiel, out of a full-sister to Chester Vase winner Gulland, he can be expected to improve significantly for the step up to today's distance and is taken to win this before going on to better things. Rahaf certainly has the ability to win a race of this nature and sets a fair standard. However, the gelding has seven times filled the runners up spot and may again have to settle for silver. Promising was undoubtedly flattered by his proximity to Ed Dunlop's Moonsprite at Beverley last time and the best of the remainder may well be Flame Of Zara, who should plenty of ability in national hunt flat races last season and again when fourth behind stable mate Nobratinetta at Hamilton recently.
