Verdict

Perisher easily won a mile maiden at Thirsk and started favourite for a handicap at this level at Newmarket but never got into contention. Regulator did well as a juvenile and looked set for a good season after his runs in the spring but hasn't done as well as expected, though he's run in better company. MAGICAL EFFECT has had 13 starts since his last victory but has been very consistent at this sort of level and in higher grade so should again give a good account and gets the vote in a tight handicap. Raselasad's two victories have been on very fast ground so he's won't want any rain while Portledge has only won on Tapeta at Newcastle. Iron Sky has won over 6f here and found an extended mile too far at Hamilton while Our Charlie Brown is back on the same mark as last season's course and distance victory on soft ground.
