In depth

Verdict

It could pay to take a chance on ALTAN KHAN in this bumper and he is nominated to get the better of Vannin, Allow Me and Carpincho. Trainer Malcolm Jefferson had a winner at Newcastle on Wednesday and Alton Khan certainly makes plenty of appeal here. He shaped with promise on his debut at Hexham back in October when he looked as though he would come on plenty for the run. This slight drop in trip should suit and he is taken to open his account. Vannin is a half-brother to bumper winner Cloudy Times and he is another who shaped with promise on his debut. He chased home Royal Swain that day at Carlisle and as we know he will handle the ground he has to be respected. Allow Me wasn't beaten far behind Definite All Star at Musselburgh back in November and he looks capable of making the frame here, while Carpincho will go on the ground and he went close on his debut in Ireland. This is a wide open finale and the market may well provide the clues, but there should be more to come from Altan Khan who looks the value call.
