        Verdict

        Jan Smuts was due to run at Carlisle yesterday but would have strong claims in this grade if taking part. Silver Shuffle returned to the Flat with a good effort at Musselburgh a fortnight ago but has still won just the one race in 61 starts and that was back in 2010. NOBLE REACH has not won anything yet but has been getting closer the further she goes and gets the nod on a recent third over 2m at Newcastle. The unreliable Strikemaster was beaten only a length over track and trip on his penultimate start but finished nearer last at Thirsk on his latest outing.
