In depth

Verdict

Frankincense showed improved form in similar company at Sedgefield last time and is a tentative selection to confirm the promise of that race in an equally poor contest where Francken and Strait Talking are rated the main dangers. Hurdles races do not come much weaker than this but Frankincense is well treated on his best form now and having run better at Sedgefield last time it is to be hoped that he can reproduce that form. Top weight Prince Adjal faces no easy task giving weight away all round and of more interest may be Francken, who holds solid claims on the evidence of his second behind Dennis The Mennis at Newcastle last month but has disappointed since. Strait Talking has been given a chance by the handicapper and can race off a 1lb lower mark than when successful at Fakenham in April. He may strip fitter for his two previous runs this term and rates a bigger threat than Power And Demand, who is held by the selection on running at Sedgefield. Blaise Wood is another worthy of a mention but Frankincense has a decent conditional booked and gets the vote to confirm the promise of his latest start.
