    Verdict

A high-class race where Victor Leudorum attempts to make a successful leap into all age handicaps having won four novice contests on the spin. Charlie Mann's progressive sort could literally be anything and we reluctantly oppose him with SHOEGAZER. David Pipe's seven-year-old had already competed in some decent races over hurdles before switching to fences, but his ability to handle testing conditions has probably given the trainer every encouragement to take a tilt at this prize and he can give weight and a beating to his rivals. Los Nadis is a previous course winner and he has to be respected, whilst Lieutenant Miller is noteworthy as an exceptionally rare raider from the Nicky Henderson yard. It has taken some time for Royal Riviera to come to hand having shown initial promise and Nigel Twiston-Davies steps him up in grade having campaigned him successfully at Hereford and Ffos Las.
