In depth

Verdict

Masafi bolted up when landing a six-timer at Musselburgh yesterday, and is sure to be a warm order to follow up here; there may, however, be some value in an each-way tilt on Goodbye Mr Bond. Masafi was a very easy winner from Joey Perhaps yesterday, and is clearly improving and several steps ahead of the handicapper. This horse is a perfect example of Sir Mark Prescott's ability to place his horses so well when they are in form, but he will, face his stiffest task to date here against Goodbye Mr Bond. Eric Alston's charge had himself won four in a row before coming unstuck at ascot last time, but was probably not helped by being held up off a slow pace there. Racing off the same mark, he might just be the value. Fossgate has shown enough to suggest he can win a race, while Millagros and Gala Sunday are well handicapped on their best form but unlikely to show it. To sum up, Masafi is the likely winner but Goodbye Mr Bond could be the value each-way bet.
