A modest affair in which Coy Lad is tentatively selected ahead of Farington Lodge and The Maserati Kid. Coy Lad was an impressive winner of a point-to-point at Friars Haugh and while it is difficult to equate that race with rules form - the fact that Tony Dobbin rides is enough to suggest that he is useful. Farington Lodge would win plenty of beauty contests but his backers have long since gone skint. He fell on his latest start at Newcastle and has an appaling completion record to boot. This is not a stronger race but his indiscretions are off-putting. The Maserati Kid had no chance when chasing home Prince Adjal at Ayr. He has had his training troubles in the past but goes well for Doug Costello. Not A Trace did not stay three miles at Musselburgh and is likely to front-run this afternoon. Assumetheposition and Stand On Me have shown previous aptitude but have questions to answer. Coy Lad could be well in off today's mark and with Dobbin booked, we shall take the hint.
