In depth

Verdict

Green Pirate gets the vote over Jools, Ruffle and Danawi to name but three. Green Pirate has been off the track since finishing a rather unlucky second at Lingfield in January when he did not get the best of runs from his outside draw, and with in-form George Baker on his back, is taken to bounce back and gain a first win on Turf. Jools visited the winner's enclosure for the first time in two years when coming late to snatch a poor race at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago, and will not need to improve much to figure again, while Ruffle also has claims on bits and pieces of earlier form. Danawi caught the eye when second on unfavourable terms at Beverley last time, but that was a seller before we get too excited, and basically in a race which itself is little better, we like the chances of Green Pirate.
