In depth

Verdict

With the distinct possibility of a blistering early pace due to the presence of Soaked in stall 15, it seems unlikely that anything drawn towards the stands' side will be able to land a blow in this typically competitive heat. And this may play into the hands of Stoic Leader, who will relish this stiff uphill finish. There are dangers aplenty though and Blessingindisguise, Delegate and Sir Sandrovitch have all fared well in regard to the draw - whereas Catch The Cat and Compton Plume will need to work hard to figure from their positions in the stalls. However, Stoic Leader, who is 4lb better off with the inconsistent Ballybunion today, has held his form well this term and returns to a course that suits his style of running. The gelding will can gain a prominent position on the all important far rail before utilising his turn of foot when Soaked begins to hit his psychological barrier a furlong out.
