Verdict

A competitive finale, but only those drawn high are really worth considering, so Victoria Park just gets the vote ahead of Querida Rose and Le Meridien. Dandy Nicholls' horse started as a short-priced favourite at Catterick last week, having earlier won in good fashion at Carlisle. As it was, she could only manage second place that day, and while she is now six pounds higher in the weights and by no means a good thing, she looks the best option drawn in stall 12. Le Meridien's two career wins so far have both come over this course and distance, and John Wainwright's filly is now a pound lower than when winning here last year. Fourth to the well-handicapped Frizzante in a big handicap at Doncaster last week, she looks a big danger. Querida Rose's recent form is less encouraging, but Brian Rothwell's filly is also well drawn and she is well treated on some of her old form, so is another to consider for forecast and tricast combinations.
