      Verdict

Carol Williams excellent record in these races leads us to Melodian although Wuxi Venture and Medallist all hold claims on the book. Melodian was given an enterprising ride by Carol's estranged husband Tyrone at Pontefract and if the same tactics are utilised here, he could be difficult to peg back. Wuxi Venture has been called a few names in the past and while he is not a certainty at the best of times, he may respond to a ladies touch from the saddle. It seems a long time since we saw Medallist in the patronage of Sir Michael Stoute and while his best days are unquestionably behind him, he is ridden today by a jockey who looks tidy in the saddle. Of the remainder, Yenealed looks interesting. He has tumbled down the handicap of late and has the skills of Nina Carberry to assist on this occasion. The market is watched with regard to winning hurdler, Blue Venture. Jockeyship has pride of place in this type of race and Melodian has the best possible assistance.
