Bob Baffert trained American Pharoah to land the Triple Crown in 2015 and has another candidate with strong claims in Justify. The latter followed an impressive Kentucky Derby success with victory in the Preakness and is the one they all have to beat as he steps up in trip. HOFBURG struggled behind Justify on the sloppy track at Churchill Downs but could prove a different proposition over this longer distance. Held in high regard by trainer Bill Mott, the Arc’ winner Bago can be found on his dam’s side and he may well make a race of it with the favourite. Bravazo and Tenfold chased home Justify in the Preakness and both could go well again while Vino Rosso is preferred to stablemate Noble Indy representing the powerful Pletcher yard. Listed winner Gronkowski landed a four-timer for Jeremy Noseda on the UK all-weather tracks over the winter but missed the Kentucky Derby with a setback and has subsequently joined one of North America's top trainers.
