      In depth

      Verdict

Peeress looks the one to be on, with her biggest dangers in a race that lacks strength in depth probably proving to be Grand Apollo, All Quiet and Girl Warrior. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained selection finished a highly-promising third on her Newmarket debut last November, a race that has already produced winners in Sydney Star and Ashwaaq. That form looks more than good enough to feature here. John Gosden's Grand Apollo also showed promise in a backend Newmarket maiden, and Girl Warrior did likewise. The latter has also had a pipe-opener for the season and that, plus the step up to a mile, should see her competitive today. However, she has six-and-a-half lengths to find on All Quiet from that Goodwood race. The Richard Hannon-trained filly has been knocking at the door in similar events and should again get in the money today. Barry Hills runs Fatayaat but, as there is plenty of speed in the dam's side of her pedigree, it will be interesting to see how she copes with this mile trip. Overall, though, for us the road leads to Peeress.
