Verdict

BOSCAGE can maintain his unbeaten record at the main expense of Cordell and Fanjura. The last named is actually the highest rated horse in the race and Barry Hills has his string in such good form that the Marju gelding has to be respected. He lost his way after a winning start for Jeremy Noseda but was highly tried and the market should guide. Cordell's two victories have come from just three starts on artificial surfaces and he remains winless after six starts on grass. That's a minor niggle but he won very well at Kempton and has to be respected. Elna Bright and Red Somerset would be surprise winners but it would be no surprise to see Boscage improve on the seven wins that the Mark Johnston three year-olds have achieved at this track from just nineteen attempts. The colt did well to repel the sustained challenge of Onemix on debut but showed improved form when routing the opposition at Southwell to justify his cramped starting price and the decision to tackle this contest rather than a Listed race in Ireland two days later can be rewarded by Boscage claiming his third success.
