Verdict

DOUBLE CARPET is one of seven course and distance winners running this handicap and is the selection ahead of Stonecrabstomorrow and Figaro Flyer. The six-year-old was a winner here at the last time of asking that was back in December and looked to be hitting some much improved form, but he has been off the track since. The gelding has run well fresh in the past and if allowed to dominate, which he should in this modest company, then he may return to winning ways here this evening. Richard Fahey's Stonecrabstomorrow has two course and distance wins already this year and is out of a yard not short on success. The gelding has been in great form since returning to action after 15 months off the track, is in great heart at the moment and should make the frame. Figaro Flyer runs 4lb higher than when successful over course and distance last May but has been running well off this mark recently and he put in another solid effort last time out. The gelding is improving and looks capable of taking home some prize money. Four other course and distance winners are among the rest but with little of good form to go on a market check is advised and for the winner we return to Double Carpet.
