Verdict

JACKHAMMER (NAP) was well supported for a course and distance handicap last week despite being on a long losing run. He won by 3l and escapes a penalty as it was an apprentice race so a follow-up looks likely. Joyful Star was staying on over 7f at Musselburgh so has to be respected with Paul Hanagan booked while Restive ran his best race for a while when dropped back to this trip in a slightly better race at Hamilton. Chinese Spirit has won over the track and trip and wasn't right when well beaten in that latter race while Edgar Allan Poe would have a chance on last season's form if the ground eases.
