A large field goes to post for the Scottish Champion hurdle and it looks the most competitive in many a year however the principals look to be Westender, Albuhera, Specular and Perouse and the nomination goes to Westender. The selection shaped as if returning to his best when third behind Rhinestone Cowboy last time under similar conditions and a reproduction of that effort should suffice here. Albuhera ran here yesterday and he probably won so it will be interesting to see if he turns out again. If he did he would have definite place claims but would not want much more rain. Specular is held in very high regard he was a good sort on the flat in his native Australia but although he has shown some ability notably when third behind Rooster Booster a couple of runs ago he may do better next season. Perouse is another that could go well but he was slightly disappointing when well behind Rigmarole last time and he will need to improve on that effort to win this. Of the remainder Court Shareef could run into a place while Saintsaire looks triples so for the winner we return to Westender
