In depth

Verdict

A modest contest can go to Supreme Leisure now that he has got his act together over hurdles and he is selected in preference to Kupka and Tynedale, who head the list of dangers. That said, Gettinbybutonlyjust showed a good attitude when winning over course and distance in January and, as an unexposed individual, there could be more to come from him. Former Irish pointer Kupka is also going the right way, as he stayed three miles well enough at Newcastle earlier this year. He can at least reverse form with Em's Royalty with a better round of jumping and he can go close today. Tynedale has been consistent since he won a novices' hurdle last November. However, he has no easy task on his hands from top weight in this company and could be vulnerable when push comes to shove. Therefore, we stick with Supreme Leisure, who looked a useful recruit in bumpers for Noel Chance last season and has already started to justify why Howard Johnson decided to become a part-owner in him. The eight-year-old son of Supreme Leader is expected to be suited by the step up in trip today and he looks worth keeping on the right side for the time being.
