In depth

Verdict

Arctic Lagoon can make a winning return to the bigger obstacles at the expense of Silver Jack and Fountain Brig. Arctic Lagoon is still only six but has plenty of experience over fences, and displayed abundant stamina when gaining back-to-back successes at Hexham in May. He would have needed his return to action over hurdles at Kelso two weeks ago and will strip a lot fitter now. He is better treated over fences than hurdles at present, and although this trip is probably a bit on the short side for him, Sue Bradburne's charge will act on the ground and will be suited by the course. Silver Jack caught the eye staying on behind Your Advantage at Hexham last month and has won over hurdles here in the past, but he has to give over a stone to the selection. Fountain Brig is still a maiden but is a galloper and will no doubt set out to try and make all. That will suit Arctic Lagoon nicely and he can come and win his race in the straight.
