SAMUEL JACKSON (NAP) has proved a bit of a star for permit holder Richard Mitford-Slade since winning at 100/1 on his debut at Taunton. He followed up at Bangor and then ran third in a Grade 2 at Doncaster – he looks to be on a fair mark on his first run in a handicap. Lough Derg Farmer is also unexposed and will strip fitter for his fourth at Newbury. Sir Mangan races off the same mark as when second to a Grade 2 winner back in October but Kris Spin again showed his liking for very heavy going at Fontwell eight days ago and is 7lb higher. Ballyheigue Bay is also a mudlark but Lithic could be nicely treated back over hurdles and makes more appeal than habitual front-runner Top Ville Ben and the returning Onefitzall.
