Mark Johnston has become something of a standing dish for the big days here and can again pick up with Mister Monet, who, as the least exposed in the field, may be too progressive for the likes of Swift Tango and Courageous Duke. The selection may face stiffer opposition from Fine Pallette and Spuradich, who are also going the right way and cannot confidently be ruled out here. The first named, a very lightly raced type from the Henry Cecil yard, may have found the ground a little too tacky last time and is worth persevering with over a trip that does not pose any problems for him. Whereas Spuradich has taken time to get going this year and is better than his form figures would suggest. Another to mention is Putra Sandhurst, who has been highly tried and can usually be relied upon to run his race. However, he has a fair bit to do on the terms of the race and may find the concession of 14lb to the selection just too much to give away at this level. Therefore, Mister Monet is given the nod as the one that is open to the most improvement today.
