Verdict

The 2,000 Guineas winner George Washington was not given the hardest of rides in the Celebration Mile on his return to action last month and is taken to reap the rewards of that run and resume winning ways here at the main expense of Librettist and Araafa. The last mentioned has shown progressive form prior to a disappointing effort behind Court Masterpiece in the Sussex Stakes but Jeremy Noseda's horses were badly out of form then and they are running better now. Sussex winner Court Masterpiece is a much better horse at Goodwood and may not be able to reproduce the same level of form today, while the filly Nannina faces no easy task against the colts. Godolphin's reappearing Proclamation has been deserted by Frankie Dettori in preference for Librettist, who has done everything asked of him this term but may be better on a softer surface. There are no problems on account of the ground for George Washington though and he is taken to resume winning ways.
