Verdict

John Gosden sent out last year’s winner and ROARING LION bids for a fourth consecutive Group 1 success. He drops back in trip having won the Eclipse, Juddmonte International and last month’s Irish Champion Stakes over 1m2f and connections will be hoping today’s testing ground will blunt the speed of the high-class milers. Of those, Recoletos won the the Group 1 Prix du Moulin last month with Sussex Stakes winner Lightning Spear behind. The latter beat both Lord Glitters and Beat The Bank at Goodwood while Addeybb could run a big race back on soft going on his return from a lay-off. But Laurens is proving a filly out of the top drawer having won four times at the highest level this year including the Sun Chariot at Newmarket a fortnight when beating both of today’s Ballydoye representatives Happily and I Can Fly and Karl Burke’s charge should run another big race today.
