Verdict

Aidan O'Brien has won three of the last seven renewals so Century, fourth in the Dee Stakes at Chester on his reappearance, must be worth a second look. But the Mark Johnston stable has an even more impressive record in this Listed contest for would-be top class stayers. His Middleham yard has won six of the last 13 stagings and HARTNELL can further enhance the record. He had the stamina to finish third in a Group 1 on heavy ground over 1m2f as a two-year-old and looked ready for a further step up in trip when second in the Lingfield Derby Trial last time. Marzocco was only beaten a neck in a Listed race at Goodwood while Montaly looked a stayer in the making at Haydock and appears to have the beating of Min Alemarat and The Corsican on collateral form. The others look to have a lot of improving to do to figure.
