Verdict

There has been no winner of this aged older than five since the turn of the century so Mondialiste and Esoterique may be up against it, though Andre Fabre's exceptional mare was second last year when finishing ahead of Cougar Mountain and Toormore. Only one winner in the last 20 years has started bigger than 15/2 but we shouldn't concentrate solely on those likely to be near the head of the market though American challenger Tepin has won her last six, three of them Grade 1 races, including the Breeders' Cup Mile. She appears to handle all types of going, though has already had four runs this year. Belardo reversed Sandown running with Toormore when landing the Lockinge and also beat Kodi Bear and Endless Drama, though Ger Lyons' lightly-raced colt was having his first run for 12 months and will have come on a bundle. AMAZING MARIA won the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes here last year and went on to beat the odds-on Ervedya in a Group 1 at Deauville. She had a nice pipe-opener at Newmarket and could be the value in a cracking start to proceedings.
