Verdict

Richard Fahey, who won this last year, has the unbeaten fillies Lexington Spirit and Worthington entered with Paul Hanagan opting to ride the latter, an impressive debut winner at Carlisle over today's rival Springinmystep. Frederick Engels looked a very progressive type when easily accounting for the well-regarded Es Que Love at Musselburgh and Johnny Murtagh's booking is eye-catching. US Hall Of Fame rider Mike Smith travelled to Folkestone to ride GENTLEMANS CODE in his preparation for this and though Wesley Ward's colt had only two rivals to beat, including subsequent Nottingham winner Bear Behind who reopposes, he did it with ease and can take the race for the second time in three years for his trainer. Magic City has been a beaten favourite in all three starts since making a winning debut but he's been showing very good speed and should be thereabouts again.
