In depth

Verdict

A chance is taken with Almost Broke, who is selected in preference to the bang-in-form Schuh Shine and Caribbean Cove. Others that can go close include Undeniable, who has got his act together just at the right time and could have a little more to offer, while Joes Edge is better than he showed last time and is one to carefully monitor in the betting. Caribbean Cove appears to have got over his nervousness at jumping and is obviously in good heart. However, this is stronger contest than he has faced of last and he also needs to find a bit more. Scuh Shine has done nothing wrong in Novice company and is a prime candidate to tow them along. However, he might be ready for a longer trip and could be vulnerable to anything with a finishing kick. Which is where we expect Almost Broke to be seen to best effect. He is shaping up nicely for Paul Nicholls and appears to be the ideal type for a chasing career now that he has got his act together well.
