The scout reports...

Sime Vrsaljko is emerging as one of the most talked about prospects in European football, the Sky Sports Scout runs the rule of the young Croatian. Eighteen-year-old Vrsaljko hails from Zadar, but he has spent his entire career in the Croatian capital Zagreb. He was snapped up by Zagreb when he was just 14 after playing for local side Zadar. Vrsaljko quickly moved through the youth ranks at Dinamo, and at 16 he was sent on loan to their feeder club Lokomotiva and he was immediately pushed into the first team. Having originally been used in midfield, he was converted to a right wing-back at Lokomotiva, and he flourished. He was recalled by Dinamo in the winter of 2009 as the season entered its mid-season break. But he was soon handed his Dinamo debut in February this year, and he has not looked back, now establishing himself as their first-choice right-back. Very much in the mould of a 'modern' full-back, Vrsaljko is full of energy, and attack is just as important to him as defence. He has excellent pace, while his passing and tackling is excellent - a trait he has carried over from his midfield days. Vrsaljko rates Luka Modric as his footballing hero, as he also comes from Zadar and went through the youth ranks at Dinamo. Indeed the former coach of both players at Zadar, even claims that Vrsaljko is more natural talent than Modric. Vrsaljko has been called into the Croatia squad and is set to win his first cap against Malta, which will make him the youngest international in their history.

The scout says...

Vrsaljko is an outstanding talent, and Dinamo have already confirmed that the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal want him. If his progress continues then within 12 months he looks sure to be playing in one of Europe's top leagues, with England's Premier League a distinct possibility.
