Oxford United have completed the signing of former Brighton striker Will Hoskins on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old, who was a free agent after departing Sheffield United, was in the stands to watch the U's take on Portsmouth on Saturday before penning a one-year deal with the option to extend his stay by a further year. Hoskins, who began his career with Rotherham before spells with the likes of Watford, Bristol Rovers and the Seagulls, will be tasked with boosting a forward line which has managed just one League Two goal this season. "Will is an exciting signing for us," head coach Michael Appleton told the club's official website. "He has bags of experience, has scored goals throughout his career and he works ever so hard for the team. "We have played well in every game so far this season but not picked up the results and I think anyone who has watched us has seen where we needed to strengthen. "We have been patient in trying to find the right player and we believe that Will fits the bill perfectly."
