Sky Sports understands Middlesbrough are poised to sign Doncaster Rovers defender James Husband, subject to a medical.
Middlesbrough had a bid accepted by Doncaster for Husband over the weekend as Boro boss Aitor Karanka looks to bolster his defensive options.
Husband, who has attracted the interest of Hull City this summer, is understood to have agreed personal terms with Middlesbrough after holding talks at the club on Monday.
The 20-year-old is expected to sign a long-term deal at the Riverside in the next 24 hours to become Karanka's latest new signing.
As part of the deal Middlesbrough striker Curtis Main is expected to go in the opposite direction to Doncaster.
Husband has impressed during his time at the Keepmoat Stadium with Doncaster always facing a battle to keep him in the wake of their relegation.
