Scottish Premiership strugglers St Mirren have completed the signing of former Ross County striker Yoann Arquin.

The 26-year-old passed a medical on Wednesday morning before signing a contract until the end of the season.

Arquin played at Hereford and Notts County in England before arriving in Dingwall last January.

The former Nancy, Nantes and Paris Saint Germain youngster left County earlier this month, having made 35 appearances for the team.

And Arquin is confident he has made the right move in joining St Mirren, despite the team’s struggles in the league this season.

“I am delighted to have signed for St Mirren until the end of the season,” he said.

“I spoke with a number of people who I trust in football and they all gave me very positive feedback about the club and the fantastic facilities they have.

“I am looking forward to getting started on Saturday and hopefully helping the club start to move up the league table.

"I think St Mirren have a better chance of staying up than Ross County. I need to play, I need to score and I aim to stay up with St Mirren."

St Mirren caretaker manager Gary Teale was pleased to secure his first signing for the club.

"I am delighted to add Yoann to our squad as he is a player that will help us in the final third of the pitch with his link up play and also to stretch teams in behind," he said.

“We are hoping that with these strengths that he can add much needed goals to the side over the remaining months of the season.”
