Crystal Palace defenders Damien Delaney and Joel Ward have yet to agree new deals at the club.

It is understood that both players held contract talks earlier this month but have yet to reach any agreement, according to sources at Sky Sports News HQ.

Delaney’s contract expires at the end of this season.

"At the moment he hasn’t signed it but the contract is there on the table." Neil Warnock, Crystal Palace manager, said on Thursday morning.

"You would have to ask him why he hasn’t signed it. He’s a good leader for us in the dressing room. That’s why we have offered him a new contact. It’s up to him whether he signs it, not me."

Warnock confirmed that the club have been in discussions with Ward over a new deal.

"I think that Joel is an important player." said Warnock. "It doesn’t mean that he will sign a contract. He’s got his options, speaking to the lad himself.

"I think it’s important that the club make offers like this to players, not just when their contract has expired, but in plenty of time when you value their service."
