Porter makes Colchester switch

Colchester have signed former Sheffield United striker Chris Porter on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The 31-year-old joins the U's after agreeing the cancellation of his contract at Bramall Lame this week.

Porter arrives at the Weston Homes Community Stadium with a wealth of experience, having made almost 400 appearances in all competitions.

He began his career at Bury before earning a move Oldham in 2006, where he scored 28 goals in 54 matches.

Two years later, Porter joined Scottish side Motherwell and continued his goalscoring exploits, grabbing 23 goals in 55 appearances.

He then linked up with Derby in 2009 before signing for the Blades, where he scored 23 times in 118 games.
