Japan striker Yuya Osako has joined newly-promoted Bundesliga side Cologne.

The 24-year-old appeared in 15 games for second division side 1860 Munich last year, scoring six goals, but he will now make the leap to the German top flight.

Osako is currently with the Japan squad preparing for the World Cup and will link up with his new club once the tournament is over.

The terms of the move have not been disclosed.

"I am very happy to play in front of the fantastic fans in Cologne and I am sure that I can still improve myself in the Bundesliga, being one of the best leagues in the world," Osako told Cologne's website.
