Top-ranked Kei Nishikori will take on in-form David Ferrer in the final of the Mexico Open after both players won their respective semi-finals.
Nishikori made it to the final as he managed to battle his way past Kevin Anderson in three sets.
Winning the first set 6-2, the Japanese lost the next 6-3 to take the match to a decider. The 25-year-old took it 6-3 and next faces Ferrer.
As a consequence he will now reach a career-high four in the rankings and, should Rafa Nadal fail to win the title in Argentina where he is playing, he will rise to three.
"I'm playing my game and it's going really well," Nishikori said on the ATP's official website. "It was a tough match but I'm happy to make the final."
Ferrer will meet him having turned over Ryan Harrison in their semi.
The Spaniard lost the opener 6-4 but then reeled off two double-bagels and took the next two sets 6-0 to reach his second final in a fortnight after winning in Rio last time out.
