WTA Rogers Cup: Serena Williams storms past Samantha Stosur; Petra Kvitoa eases through

World No 1 Serena Williams smashed 10 aces as she wiped the floor with Samantha Stosur in the second round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

The 32-year-old American was in fine form as she ruthlessly dispatched Stosur 6-0 6-2 in just 58 minutes.

Williams, who faces Czech Lucie Safarova in the next round, did not even let Stosur rack up a single break point.

"It feels great to be here," Williams said. "I thought I played well tonight. She's won a Grand Slam title and she's a really good player, so it was important for me to play well.

"I love it here and I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight."

Despite being held up by a rain delay in the south of Canada, Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova progressed in similarly brutal fashion.

Second seed Kvitova raced past Australian Casey Dellacqua in 72 minutes, smashing seven aces and breaking four times en route to a 6-3 6-2 success.
