Verdict

An impressive performance from this half-brother to Group Two winner Akmal and he also looks a strong stayer. The Nayef colt had clearly learnt from his promising debut at Newbury over seven furlongs and was soon at the head of affairs and remained there throughout. He was travelling all over his rivals as they passed the two furlong pole with his jockey still holding on to him and AAZIF put the race to bed in a matter of strides in the manner of the smart performer. He still holds an entry in the Racing Post Trophy which would, obviously, represent a steep rise in class although connections reported the Zetland over 10 furlongs at Newmarket which would be a more gradual stepping stone to Pattern races. Theturnofthesun, related to a Grade 3 winner, stepped up his debut to come home well in the final furlong; he had wandered around in the centre of the track and taken a long time to pick up but this was very much a step in the right direction and further improvement can be expected. Mr Churchill is now qualified for a mark and has shown ability on all three starts, including behind Dewhurst also ran Spiritual Star, having been held-up on each occasion and shouldn't be overburdened. Pilgrims Rest hasn't really gone on from his debut at Sandown but, once again, the run was not without promise; handicaps are now an option and he is certainly in the right hands. Burnham was also behind him on debut and is bred to come into his own over middle distances next year. Bohemian Rhapsody was just two places behind the winner on debut but couldn't match that one's improvement although he has shown enough to suggest that he can win races. Kaylena is from a good family and a racecourse success will be eagerly sought after as a result but she failed to build on her debut, seemingly failing to last home, and it remains to be seen if she can increase her paddock value.
