Verdict

Perhaps the most significant thing about one of the top sprint races of the year is that on this occasion the King's Stand Stakes has been run over the same course and distance, and Chineur, who was so impressive at the Royal Ascot meeting, is taken to confirm form with Boogie Street, Moss Vale, The Tatling, Fayr Jag, Orientor and Benbaun. Mikel Delzangles' four-year-old has speed to burn, and the surprising thing about his emphatic win here in June was that his previous form had all been with cut in the ground. Jockey Christophe Lemaire was very enthusiastic about him afterwards, explaining that the speed of English racing suits him. He has had a rest since the King's Stand and this has clearly been the target. Boogie Street chased him home that day and Richard Hannon's colt also has plenty of speed, so it would be no surprise if he was to figure in the shake-up again here. Moss Vale was third, and then went on to finish down the field in the July Cup at Newmarket. Avonbridge ran a blinder there to finish second, and Roger Charlton's colt, who is a model of consistency, could easily be in the money again here, and is taken to confirm the form with Balmont, who is less likely to be suited by this drop to five furlongs. La Cucaracha has been in a rich vein of form, and defied top weight to win a valuable handicap here last time out. That was high class form, and although most of her form is over six furlongs, she has plenty of speed and on this decent ground she can also be thereabouts. However, Chineur looked a little bit special when winning here in June, and the French raider is taken to score a deserved first Group One success.
