Always one of the season's highlights and a great race for favourites, with six winners from the last 10 and only one priced bigger than 9/2, but DICK TURPIN may be able to continue a fine season for Richard Hannon. The trainer steps up his colt to this trip for the first time after an easy success over a mile in a Chantilly Group 1. He acts with cut and despite being related to plenty of speed there is also stamina on the dam's side of his pedigree, and we expect Richard Hughes to switch him off and come with a late rattle. On a line through Canford Cliffs there should be little to choose between our pick and Rip Van Winkle, though he is more exposed over this trip and, having yet to win over it, is just taken on. Byword will definitely stay and has form with cut, so he looks a major threat, while Twice Over would be a hugely popular winner, but wants the ground to dry out to have his best chance of reversing placings with his Royal Ascot conqueror. Dick Turpin can make the most of another Hughes hold-up.
