In depth

Verdict

A typical York sprint of endless possibilities with Paul Midgley sending five to post. Jockey bookings suggest Spring Is Sprung is the stable preferred but GLORY FIGHTER is also well respected and Ryan Sexton claims a useful 3lb on the gelding who will presumably look to get out early and contest the pace. Not too many come from behind in York sprints and he should deliver his usual consistent effort. Stablemate Elegant Erin will be all the better for a reappearance run after a 289-day break, whilst it's never a good idea to leave York perennial, Copper Knight, out of calculations. A host of others can have a decent case argued for them too, including Sampers Seven in first-time headgear, the closely-handicapped pair of Nelson Gay and Dandy Dinmont and the consistent Princess Karine.
