Verdict

With the watering of the track and the expected showers the ground will hold no fears for Dubawi, and the Godolphin runner can see off the challenges of , Indesatchel, Ad Valorum and Rocamadour. Godolphin have yet to capture this prestigious prize, but that could change this afternoon as Dubawi bids to add to his recent successes in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.Following his impressive trial in Dubai he was made a warm favourite for the Newmarket Guineas but failed to act on the firm ground. He proved that running all wrong when successful in Ireland on a softer surface and he looks the best option today. Indesatchel ran well behind Shamardal in the French Guineas and does hold his form well, he will be a major threat to all. Mick Channon won this with Zafeen two years ago, but Rocamadour was third behind Shamardal at Chantilly, and surely a place at best is all that he can hope for. Aidan O'Brien won three consecutive runnings of the St James's Palace Stakes in 2001,' 02 and '03 and is represented by Ad Valorum and Oratorio. The latter has yet to win in three attempts in Britain but has the right profile for this, while Ad Valorum is the only unbeaten animal in the line-up, but the Middle park winner has to prove that he stays a mile on his first run of the season. Tucker, Vanadium and Kandidate will all win their fair share after today, but are up against it, and we shall select Dubawi to continue to enhance his already tall reputation.
